I grew up in Toledo, Ohio. My dad was a truck driver; he was a very neat and clean person, and he didn’t demand a lot out of life. I took a lot of the things that I learned from him as far as taking care of myself, my family, my properties, and now my employees. I’ve always believed in working really hard, trying to do the right thing, and doing right by others. I never could have imagined when I first started out that I would enjoy the business and the relationships that I have today. And each year it continues to grow and we continue to bring on more employees and we’re improving all the time. My dad said to me years ago, “If something ever happens to ya, you sure had fun along the way.” And I remember that phrase, him saying to me where I was at the time, y’know it’s a pretty good accomplishment to say the kid from Toledo, Ohio grew it from where it was in the beginning to where it is today. It’s not so much about making money, it’s about getting better all the time.
I want to get better; I’m not there yet. I’m really proud of my organization. I’m proud of my employees, I’m proud of the things that we’ve accomplished. My vision is to continue to grow and put more people around us and move the company ahead for the next 10, 20, 30 years and let it be a leader in the community. But the bottom line is, at the end of the day, we take care of the customer and our employees and try to do the right thing.
